Digitization and Photo Documentation

Let us digitally record and process your scientific objects. Professionally and in accordance with the Practical Guidelines on Digitization of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).

High-quality digitization opens up new possibilities for all researchers and lecturers at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) to use and present their scientific objects. It is the starting point for formal and subject indexing as well as reusability and networking in the digital world.

Our Services

The Service Center for Digitization and Photo Documentation (SDF) professionally records and processes scientific objects in digital form—we are happy to do it for you: Printed works, index cards, pictures, plans, file material, manuscripts, slides, negatives, and microfilms. Digital masters can be edited, processed, or further processed (e.g. OCR) as needed.

Technical Equipment

We use high-quality scanners of different models. With these, all common reflected- and transmitted-light templates can be digitized with high resolution and in an object-friendly manner. A dedicated photo studio is available for object photography.
