The Georg Forster Building Library includes literature on ten subject areas as well as the USA Library special collection.

In general, media from the USA Library can be borrowed. It is possible to borrow most of the media from other subjects.

The Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Technology Library offers printed and electronic literature on Mathematics and Computer Science as well as the Natural Sciences.

With a few exceptions, all items can be borrowed. Books from other library locations can be returned here. Interlibrary loans can also be picked up and returned.

On request, we offer courses and guided tours tailored to your needs.

The Humanities Library consists of 20 library locations of former departmental libraries of the Faculties 05 Philosophy and Philology, 07 History and Cultural Studies, and the School of Music. The 18 locations in the Philosophicum building are closely intertwined with offices and event rooms and are spread throughout the entire building. 

The School of Music holdings are located in the building of the same name. The Musicology holdings are located in the front building of the Philosophicum.

The School of Music’s holdings are located outside the Philosophicum in the School of Music. They are organized according to a subject classification system and offer, among other things, a wide range of sheet music.

The musicology holdings are located at the front building of the Philosophicum on the 2nd floor. They are organized according to a subject classification system.

The Law and Economics Library mainly offers media on law and economics. It also includes an area on Anthropology and African Studies as well as the Jahn Library and Turkish Studies.

The Anthropology and African Studies holdings as well as the Law and Economics and the Anthropology textbook collections can be borrowed. The remaining stocks can be borrowed to a limited extent.

In cooperation with Faculty 03, the library organizes introductory courses on using the library. 

The Theology Library is a specialized theological library. It gathers literature from all individual theological disciplines as well as important literature from related subjects, as long as these overlap with the issues of theology.

With a few exceptions, all items can be borrowed. To borrow books, please order online one day in advance. Collection is possible the next working day, Monday to Friday, from 12:00 p.m. There is no lending over the weekend.

In cooperation with the faculty, the library organizes introductory courses for library use, and on request also on the use of theological e-resources.

The Taubertsberg location is also home to the Jewish Library (permanent loan from the Jewish Community, contact Prof. Andreas Lehnardt) and the Central Library’s theological textbook collection.

The Translation Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies Library is a specialized library for translation and interpreting studies. It contains literature on translation-relevant linguistics and cultural studies as well as on the twelve languages and subjects offered at Faculty 06.

With a few exceptions, all items can be borrowed. Media from Mainz can be ordered to Germersheim free of charge via the Research Portal. Interlibrary loans can be picked up and returned on site. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about writing scientific papers.

The branch library offers University Medical Center students and employees textbooks and specialist literature in the areas of clinical medicine and healthcare professions. E-journals, e-books, and databases (e.g. PubMed, CINAHL, UpToDate) can be used via the University Medical Center network. 

With a few exceptions, all items can be borrowed. Media from the Central Library can be ordered online free of charge to the branch library. Interlibrary loans can be picked up and returned directly on site. Unavailable journal articles are delivered free of charge via the Internal Loan Service (Interner Leihverkehr, ILV). 

Students can borrow iPads on site, which have apps such as AMBOSS or eRef.

The branch library offers textbooks and specialist literature for dental students and staff. E-journals, e-books, and databases (e.g. PubMed, CINAHL, UpToDate) can be used via the University Medical Center network. 

With a few exceptions, all items can be borrowed. Media from the Central Library can be ordered online free of charge. Media can be returned outside opening hours via a book return box in front of the library or at one of the other library locations. Unavailable journal articles are delivered free of charge via the Internal Loan Service (Interner Leihverkehr, ILV). 

The Central Library offers basic literature on all subjects offered at the university. 

It is the central lending library, so most volumes from its holdings can be borrowed. Books from other library locations (including from Germersheim) can be returned here. Interlibrary loans can also be picked up and returned.

The Central Library offers both interdisciplinary and subject-specific courses as well as guided tours for literature research and to acquire information literacy.
