Explore the “schoolbox:infokompetent”, a self-learning resource designed for students and curious learners who want to develop essential skills in finding, evaluating, using, and citing information responsibly and effectively.

TAKE A LOOK INSIDE

The schoolbox is structured around four core competencies: Information retrieval, critical evaluation, responsible use, and proper citation of sources.

It aims to support students and other interested users in developing the ability to handle information sources responsibly and independently, and to acquire subject knowledge through self-directed learning.

The “schoolbox:infokompetent” is made available under the CC-BY-SA license. The material can be downloaded and shared free of charge. Want to adapt the schoolbox for teaching? Just remember to credit the original source with author names and a URL.

HOW CAN I MAKE US OF IT?

The “schoolbox:infokompetent” is aimed directly at students and anyone interested. It is self-guided and requires no prior instruction.

For teachers wishing to use this material in the classroom, a range of pedagogical strategies can be applied. Based on student feedback and developed in collaboration with teachers, we have put together a set of recommendations for using the schoolbox:infokompetent.

Information on information literacy standards for high school students can be found on the Information Literacy Portal of German libraries.

WHO IS BEHIND THE SCENES?

The “schoolbox:infokompetent” was developed as part of the "Academic Integrity" project. This project was part of "LOB - Lehren. Organisieren. Beraten", an initiative aimed at improving study conditions at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (2012–2020).

The Academic Integrity Competence Center is continuing the work started by the project.
