Publishing Your Own Open Access Journal

You are a member of JGU and would like to publish your own Open Access journal or series?

We would be happy to inform you about the possibilities of using the editorial management system Open Journal Systems (OJS). OJS enables the convenient handling of the entire electronic publication process–from submission of contributions to peer review and publication on the Internet to long-term availability and permanent archiving. The University Library is part of the German OJS network.

Mainz University Library is also a member of the Open Library of Humanities (OLH). OLH is a non-commercial, academic publisher that publishes high-quality Open Access journals in the field of humanities with no publication fees (APCs) and covers the costs through an international library consortium. With OLH, editors find a platform both for establishing a new journal and for transforming an existing journal into Open Access. In addition, the providers’ aim is to develop OLH into a mega journal for the humanities–comparable to PLOS ONE in the life sciences. The journal Open Library of Humanities offers guest editors the opportunity to publish a collection of articles on specific research topics as a “Special Collection”.
