USA Library celebrates its 30th anniversary

19.11.2025

Our USA Library is celebrating its 30th anniversary this week. Established on November 20, 1995, on the basis of holdings from the Camp Lindsey Library (for members of the U.S. Air Force in Wiesbaden), it has since grown continuously and today comprises more than 80,000 print materials as well as access to digital newspapers, journals, and e-books. The aim of the USA Library, which is open, to the public is to provide users with comprehensive literature on the history, culture, politics, and social aspects of the United States.

To mark the anniversary, we are showing the documentary film “The Librarians” about book bans in schools in Texas on November 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the “Muschel” (Lecture Hall N3), in cooperation with the Obama Institute.

In addition, a small exhibition in the area between the Georg Forster Building and the Central Library, as well as in the "AMA Schaukasten", provides information about book bans in the United States.
