The Central Library offers basic literature on all subjects offered at the university.
It is the central lending library, so most volumes from its holdings can be borrowed. Books from other library locations (including from Germersheim) can be returned here. Interlibrary loans can also be picked up and returned.
The Central Library offers both interdisciplinary and subject-specific courses as well as guided tours for literature research and to acquire information literacy.
The branch library offers textbooks and specialist literature for dental students and staff. E-journals, e-books, and databases (e.g. PubMed, CINAHL, UpToDate) can be used via the University Medical Center network.
With a few exceptions, all items can be borrowed. Media from the Central Library can be ordered online free of charge. Media can be returned outside opening hours via a book return box in front of the library or at one of the other library locations. Unavailable journal articles are delivered free of charge via the Internal Loan Service (Interner Leihverkehr, ILV).
The Humanities Library consists of 20 library locations of former departmental libraries of the Faculties 05 Philosophy and Philology, 07 History and Cultural Studies, and the School of Music. The 18 locations in the Philosophicum building are closely intertwined with offices and event rooms and are spread throughout the entire building.
The School of Music holdings are located in the building of the same name. The Musicology holdings are located in the front building of the Philosophicum.
The Library of the Kunsthochschule is a publicly accessible special library with a current stock of approx. 14,000 media. The focus of new acquisitions is on contemporary art and art didactics. Basically all media can be borrowed.

The Law and Economics Library mainly offers media on law and economics. It also includes an area on Anthropology and African Studies as well as the Jahn Library and Turkish Studies.
The Anthropology and African Studies holdings as well as the Law and Economics and the Anthropology textbook collections can be borrowed. The remaining stocks can be borrowed by staff.
In cooperation with Faculty 03, the library organizes introductory courses on using the library.

The musicology holdings are located at the front building of the Philosophicum on the 2nd floor. They are organized according to a subject classification system.
The Theology Library is a specialized theological library. It gathers literature from all individual theological disciplines as well as important literature from related subjects, as long as these overlap with the issues of theology.
Most of the collection is available for loan. Some materials, such as reference works and journals, are for in-library use only. Two self-service terminals are available for borrowing items, and two book scanners are provided for free document scanning.
In cooperation with the faculty, the library organizes introductory courses for library use, and on request also on the use of theological e-resources.
