EndNote for University Medical Center Members

The faculty provides an EndNote license for students and employees of the Mainz University Medical Center. The University Medical Library offers support with courses and advisory services on how to use EndNote.

  • All University Medical Center computers that are installed using Matrix42 servers can automatically have EndNote installed via software update.
  • For manual installation, the package is also available on the SC6 install server (in the local hospital network on site): \\klinik.um-mz.de\dfs\groups\SC6-Install\EndNote (install)
  • If you have any questions, please contact your clinic's IT support.
  • It is not necessary to enter a serial number or product key.
  • In Windows, the installation file should be launched by right-clicking and selecting “Run as administrator.”
  • Make sure you have the appropriate version of the operating system (64-bit/32-bit) and of Microsoft Word (install Word beforehand if not already available).
  • If the operating system and programs are up to date, we recommend the latest version of EndNote.
  • Please back up your EndNote libraries in advance (compressed library).
  • EndNote 21: Compatibility with MacOS Sonoma
  • EndNote 20: Compatibility with MacOS BigSur, Ventura and Monterey
  • EndNote X9.3: runs on MacOS Catalina (64-bit version)
  • EndNote X9: runs on older 32-bit MacOS versions
  • EndNote 21: compatible with Windows 10 and 11
  • EndNote 20: compatible with Windows 10
  • EndNote X9: for older Windows versions

By downloading and installing EndNote, you accept the following conditions:

“The EndNote software is only available to employees or students of Mainz University Medical Center. Upon deregistration or termination of employment at Mainz University Medical Center, the use of EndNote is no longer permitted and you must uninstall the software. If you transfer to another university, find out whether EndNote is available there (EndNote is also available at many other universities through a campus license that allows employees and students to use EndNote) or contact Alphasoft to convert your university license into a private license. Redistribution of the installation file is not permitted and would prevent students from using the software in the future.”
